Law grads face tough economic times ahead

News of recent turmoil throughout the financial markets has been impossible to ignore. The economic rescue plan that failed to pass the House was resurrected by the Senate and re-forged into a bill that the House did pass on Friday. President Bush quickly signed it into Law. However, despite the bill’s passing, American equities markets still ended one of their worst weeks ever.

Groups debate state of death penalty

Members of several student groups came together on Wednesday to attend a discussion on the death penalty led by Georgetown Law alum Richard Dieter. The discussion, entitled “Death Penalty Litigation 101,” focused on the current state of the death penalty in America and the measures that students can take to help abolish it.

Dieter, a 1992 J.D. graduate of the Law Center, was one of the original Public Interest Law Scholars. The current head of the Death Penalty Information Center, Dieter is a widely quoted expert on the death penalty.

OPICS and SPICE Host Forum On Loan Forgiveness

Last Tuesday, in an event sponsored by OPICS and SPICE, Professor Phil Schrag and Kenneth Goldsmith of the ABA spoke to a group of 60 students about the benefits the new College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007 (CCRAA) could offer public interest students and other high-debt, low earning individuals.
