Milk has the power to stir passions, inspire hope
Watching Milk is an emotional journey no matter who you are, but for a Californian who campaigned unsuccessfully against Proposition 8 and lived outside San Francisco for several years, it was devastating.
J'amuse!
I do not know how many Americans know who Bob Woodward is, but I think it is probably safe to guess that it is fewer than know who Rush Limbaugh is. Had it not been for the movie Good Night and Good Luck, I imagine Edward R. Murrow could have slipped into historical obscurity as well. In case anyone is confused, Murrow was the CBS anchor who took on Senator Joseph McCarthy at the height of his power and Woodward was the Washington Post reporter who exposed the depths of Nixon's abuses of power during Watergate. These men took on power and revealed tyranny in our country while the tyrants were in control.

Well the debates are finally over, and what did we learn from it all?
Drug policy fails because it prosecutes illness
For years now the government has been fighting a losing war despite the mounting evidence against its success. The government stubbornly continues to funnel funding into this lost cause.
Separation of public/private needed
This November, voters in California will weigh in on Proposition 8, a controversial ballot initiative that seeks to include in the California Constitution the definition of marriage as solely between males and females, effectively overturning the recent California Supreme Court decision allowing gay marriage.
Use this financial crisis to confront national flaws
There is much anger in our nation about investing $700 billion to "bail out" the financial sector. A common refrain reverberates throughout many conversations "How did this crisis happen so quickly? Didn't ANYONE see it coming? Why should the taxpayers bail them out? If they take risks shouldn't they pay for their irresponsible behavior? Why should we pay for their mistakes?"
