Date a Fanboy. It's not a trap.

Source: GearFuse.com

Dear Geeking Out:

I was hoping to choose my next boyfriend based on which lunch table he sat at during high school. Any Suggestions?

Sincerely, Imaginary Questioner

Thank you for your excellent imaginary question, Imaginary Questioner. There are a lot of ways I could deal with this. Jocks, goths, popular kids, and stoners all have their pros and cons. But I’m going to go in a different direction: you should date a fanboy.

This is George Stinney. He is 14 years old.

This is George Stinney. Executed in South Carolina on June 16, 1944, he is the youngest person executed by the United States in the 20th century. The only evidence against Stinney was a confession, which was obtained during an interrogation by several officers in a locked room. The jury deliberated for ten minutes.

Champ: The Best Album You've Never Heard

Source: PrettyMuchAmazing.comChances are good you’ve never heard, or even heard of, Tokyo Police Club’s Champ.

If you have: congratulations. Also: we should hang out.

If not: I’m here, like a helmet-clad Natalie Portman, to slip some headphones over your ears and change your life.

Dan Fanelli - For Fear, For Xenophobia, and for Congress

This is Dan Fanelli. Your argument is invalid.Dan Fanelli-R wanted to replace Alan Grayson-D as the Congressman from the 8th District of Florida, which is dominated by Orlando. Dan Fanelli is “Pro-Fair Tax,” “Pro-Life,” and “Pro-American.” This last bit is a relief, as this inquisitive “American” couldn’t tell what country he supported by the flag-bedecked banner on his site or the background wallpaper of the United States Constitution.

Dan Fanelli is also concerned with dangerous terrorists. Apparently you can tell who these terrorists are by their brown skin, scary sounding language, and their poorly wrapped turbans. In order that my fellow students will be better protected, I am morally obligated to share with you the following videos.

Geeking Out: The Most Anticipated Movie (Review) of the Summer

Why? (Courtesy of Warner Bros.)Walking around campus the past couple weeks, I’ve heard one thing again and again: “What does the Law Weekly think about the last Harry Potter movie?” Well, the suspense is over, people. I’m here to tell you what we think (note: my opinions do not necessarily reflect those of Georgetown Universtiy, the Law Weekly, Discretionary Review, or even me, for that matter).

My review is coming up, but first let us share a moment of silence in honor of Fred Weasley’s death scene.

Criminal Law textbook: Copy Editing - Like a Boss

This little gem was found by one of our very own Georgetown students. (thanks for bringing it to my attention). The textbook is in draft stage, so let’s not be too hard on the writer or publisher.

Warning: Course language ahead.

This is how you copy edit.

Geeking Out: Julius Caesar and the Star Wars Blu-Ray

Source: Shadowlocked.comGeorge Lucas is the Julius Caesar of Sci-Fi movies. Rome existed before Julius Caesar, but it wasn’t Rome: decadent, imperialist, rich-fatsos-at-orgy-spas Rome. Likewise, Sci-Fi movies existed before Star Wars (Metropolis, The Day the Earth Stood Still) but they weren’t Sci-Fi movies: towering spectacles of summer-tentpole proportions.

Caesar, as you may have heard, went bad. He named himself Emperor and was so power-hungry that his best friend murdered him for the good of Rome. Lucas, similarly, has gone bad, milk-from-six-months-ago bad. Think those awful prequels, or Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Well, he’s at it again right now, releasing the Star Wars “Complete Saga” on blu-ray (“Complete Saga” is in quotation marks for obvious reasons; if you don’t know, I won’t tell you). And he’s making changes (dun-dun-DUUHHHHHH).

Lucas has made alterations in the past.
