Four ways to turn ramen into a real meal

Instant noodles might have been the staple of your diet in college, but you’re in law school now. You’re moving up in the world, and it’s time to step it up. Considering the fact that you’re in law school, however, you’re probably not going to have time to be a gourmet chef in training. Here are four easy ways to turn your favorite college staple into a real meal.

Vegetation

No one is going to tell you ramen is good for you. Fortunately, it’s pretty simple to add some nutrition to your meal. Drop in some baby spinach, napa cabbage, scallions, peas, bok choy, or bean sprouts. You’re on your way to becoming a master instant noodle chef.

Eggs

Hardboiled eggs are the easiest. Just boil an egg for a few minutes, crack it open, and add it to your ramen broth. Instant protein! Or, while your ramen is cooking, beat an egg in a small bowl and drizzle in the egg to create egg drop ramen.

Sauces/Condiments

The flavor packet that comes with your instant noodles doesn’t have to dictate the flavor. Sauces and condiments like soy sauce, Sriracha, chili flakes, sesame oil, miso paste, or curry powder can all add your favorite Asian flavors to your ramen. Top it off with a slice of lime or lemon, if you desire. There’s a whole world of possibilities out there.

Meats

Think ramen is just about the carbs and the MSG? Thinly sliced chicken breast, flank steak, or pork will cook in almost no time when you add them to your ramen broth. Stir them around to make sure they cook fully, or brown some ground beef on the side and add it to your bowl after the noodles are done.

Enjoy the fact that your ramen is so much better than it was in college.
